My fear is that even after a successful program is implemented, run and shown to be positive, some young, opportunistic state senator will come along and decide to advocate slashing the program budget. To remain doing good works, the program leaders will turn to the industry who most benefits most from the program, and begin to trade the aggregated data and or results for increased funding/pressure/influence peddling.
Paranoid? maybe... ok, probably, but it doesn't seem that far-fetched to me.JD Savagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09221719407287734212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7430669179682225123.post-79705226467308736682011-08-12T22:44:32.923-04:002011-08-12T22:44:32.923-04:00Jeff,

For an insurance company to gather BMI data, even in general, would take quite a lot of doing if it's even possible at all.

Instead, I'd think it's the state who is finally going to collect that data and make important decisions, good decisions, on making our kids healthier.

I'm one who doesn't believe the government is always out to get us and in fact, contrary to what many say, government can run many programs as efficiently or better than private corporations. Look at Medicare as just one example. Only 2% overhead!

I know that's going to raise some eyebrows but I'm sticking to it: the data collected will have a positive result.

On the other hand you may be right!Jeff Greenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15506185207312726175noreply@blogger.com
